About the role

The Elphinstone Group is seeking a Legal Counsel joins its established legal function. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this is a broad role. You will be responsible for providing high quality legal services and support to key stakeholders across the Group. Given it is a small legal team, you are afforded the opportunity to apply your full range of legal skills and not be siloed into a specialist area. Some of the types of work you can expect to be involved in include:

  • negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts;
  • general advice on a wide variety of corporate and business law matters;
  • property leasing and acquisitions;
  • business acquisitions and divestments;
  • privacy, data and intellectual property advisory work;
  • disputes;
  • regulatory and compliance work; and
  • policy development.


About you

The Elphinstone Group is open to candidates moving in-house for the first time, and those who are already working in the corporate sector. Those with 3-6 years experience are most suited to this opportunity. This role demands a lawyer who possesses well-developed technical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, business acumen and a practical, solutions focused approach.

To be successful in this role, you must also enjoy a high level of autonomy and responsibility and be able to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
