Nicola Phillips
Director (VIC)
Nicola Phillips has been at Mahlab since 1999. Her specialisation is in-house search, placing senior lawyers into in-house roles in the private and public sector, including executive leadership general counsel roles.
Her search capability also covers company secretary and governance professionals. Nicola partners closely with her clients to understand their business and commercial goals. She digs deep into the market to find the best fit for her client.
Prior to joining Mahlab, Nicola worked for several years as a judges associate and a solicitor at King & Wood Mallesons. As a former lawyer, she thoroughly enjoys working with the profession.
Nicola enjoys very longstanding relationships with many of her candidates. Together, they map out their career journey and work collaboratively as she guides them toward appropriate roles. Many of her former candidates are now her clients.
In addition to search and sourcing, she provides a broad range of consulting services to her corporate and government clients: advice on sourcing strategy and methodology, remuneration benchmarking, in-house legal team structures, talent management and talent pipeline, retention strategies and “state of the market” assessments of the legal industry Australia wide.
Spare time is spent hiking (ok, glamping these days), gardening and managing a junior soccer team which is the epitome of stakeholder management.
